Another day in Toronto

We took the ferry over to Toronto Island from downtown Toronto to Hanlan’s Point. The ferry terminal was a short 5 min walk from our hotel. Harlan Point  formerly housed an amusement park and baseball stadium where Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run into Lake Ontario in 1914. It also has a clothing optional beach ⛱️. But a bit to windy for our taste so we passed it up. However we did run into Gram and James and I did convince Bill to get a picture with them.Bill is the shorter one.

A short history.  Originally a sacred Mississauga peninsula, the Toronto Islands became an archipelago after a violent 1858 storm. The area evolved into a Victorian resort hub where Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run in 1914, later welcoming an airport in the 1930s and Canada’s first Gay Pride celebration in 1971 [Hanlan’s Point Beach]. Following decades of community resistance against city demolitions, residents secured 99-year land leases in 1993 [The history of the Toronto Islands], preserving the islands today as North America’s largest urban car-free community

A good game, and the Hometeam won. Bust so did the Yankees
